Arizona Based Painter Amber Henry Joins Occhi's Roster of Artists

Oct 21, 2021

Occhi Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to represent the very talented Amber Henry

I would describe myself as an interdisciplinary commission artist and private art teacher. I specialize in oil portrait commissions and palette knife acrylic paintings.
I am a former Laguna Beach gallery owner and artist who relocated from Southern California to Salt Lake City in 2011 to take care of my mother who was suffering from breast cancer (her death inspired my favorite portrait). My husband and I currently live in Arizona, where we are raising our most precious work of art, our daughter, Matisse.
In 2007, I graduated from Laguna College of Art + Design with a BFA in Fine Arts and Illustration. From there, I went on to show in local Laguna art galleries such as Fingerhut and Orange County Creatives. I enjoyed being a leader in the Laguna Beach art community, having served on various committees such as First Thursday’s Art Walk, and Laguna College of Art + Design’s mentoring and alumni committees. In Salt Lake City, I had my work featured in a solo exhibition represented by Alpine Art Gallery. I recently showed my work at the Sedona (Arizona) Arts Festival and will soon show my work in Fountain Hills, Tempe and Phoenix Arizona.
I have always been consumed by imagination and creativity. As the creative environment traveled with me, so did my crayons, markers, pencils and torn pieces of paper. My pockets would overflow with drawing utensils and various “fascinating” objects which had been collected throughout the day. The discovery that I could create a world with paint and canvas led to the realization that art has always lived within me and that I was destined to share this with the world and make my impression. While I enjoy the disciplined process it takes to make an oil painting come to life, I have also grown fond of the spontaneity of using nothing more than a palette knife and acrylic paint to create a work of art that grabs my creativity in ways I never expected.

I am excited to be represented by Occhi Arts and Entertainment!
